Furthermore, this illegal activity drives up costs for everyone, as Umeme is forced to compensate for these losses. Addressing power theft is crucial for ensuring a sustainable and equitable electricity system for all Ugandans.
Brief
The campaign aimed to tackle power theft in Uganda by highlighting its negative consequences on communities and individuals. The campaign intended to encourage illegal users to take advantage of the amnesty program and legalise their connections within 30 days to avoid penalties. It also promoted a sense of shared responsibility and empowered communities to participate in creating a more reliable and sustainable electricity system for Uganda.
