What do you know about the 16 Days of Activism for Violence against Women and Girls?
This is something that started in 1991 and takes place every year between 25th November till 10th December.
1 in 3 women are abused in their lifetime & corona virus has worsened the situation. This is a period for raising awareness. It’s for taking action against the ones who put women and girls in danger.
What do you think is the main cause of violence against women and girls in Uganda today?
We live in a world where many women place high value and are overly dependant on their marital status in terms of care. In return, this gives men ‘power.’
Factors such as income disparity and workplace discrimination also frequently contribute to domestic violence against women and girls in Uganda. This owes to the fact that these women are overly dependant on their partners.
Lastly, what is one way you think we can spread awareness for Violence against Women and Girls?
Understanding and teach consent!! Teach it to everyone at a young age. Children are most likely to pick up their behavioural traits from what they grew up with at home.
