World Bank Sanitation Programme Latrine Campaign
About This Project

We used shame as a device to encourage rural communities to construct safer latrines.

We designed the posters in the style of tabloid newspapers, with the story of a Kwanjula (traditional ceremony where bride-to-be introduces groom-to-be, attended by senior impressionable family members & friends). Unfortunately, when the groom needed to ease himself, he ended up falling into the family’s poorly constructed pit latrine & the bride’s family became the talk of the village.
